Jiayuguan, a recently developing industrial city of iron-steel production, is located in the middle of Hexi Corrido, Gansu. It is rich in tourist resources and there are many renowned places of historic interest and scenic beauty, namely 'the Jiayuguan Pass' and other attractions includes: First Peacon Tower, Overhanging Great Wall, Heishan rock carvings, brick-painted graves of Wei and Jin periods as well as Qiyi Glacier and other natural scenes.

The Jiayuguan Fort sits on top of Jiayu H the highest place at the narrowest point of the middle section of the Hexi Corridor, which hemmed in by high mountains on both sides. About eight kilometers north of Jiayuguan is the Hanging Great Wall that connects the fort to the Mazong Mountains. And about six-kilometer south of Jiayuguan are ruins of the First Beacon Tower. The Jiayuguan Fort, built in 1372 during the early Ming Dynasty, was China's Mal (stronghold to the west. It was referred to as the 'Impregnable Defile Under Heaven'. The fort is surrounded by an inner and E outer wall and further protected by trenches. The Jiayuguan Fort constituted a powerful shield defense in ancient times.

Wei Dynasty Tombs, there are about 1400 tombs, some 20km east of the city center, dating back to the Wei-Jin Dynasties (220- Most tombs excavated have mural-bearing bricks, and reputed as the largest underground art gallery in the world. The paintings in the open tombs (No. 6) are perfectly preserved. Depicting everyday activities, and quite a few draw perfect circles freehand. It is interesting to visit at virtually any time as the custodians live here.
